So satisfying! Easy to use, safe, and fun. I cut out the bottom of a plastic flower pot and bolted the kindling cracker and pot down to a birch stump to catch the chips and the kindling. Keeps things cleaner and my fingers don’t get cold making kindling outside. Middle-aged out-of-shape city slicker who moved to the country.

It is amazing. Super easy and SAFE to make a pile of kindling in a very short time. I saw another Fairdales reviewer used a 5-gallon bucket to complete the project. Again, amazing. I cut the sides of the bucket to allow drilling of 4" deck screws to mount everything on a log. The side benefit of these slits is fitting another bucket over this entire setup, keeping the cast iron splitter dry and rust-free.

Wish we do this years ago. This is super easy to use and splits kindling with minimal effort. I used a 3.5 mallet and was able to split alder, dense madrona, and some green fir with no problems.

This really is the only way to split kindling. It's the ultimate tool that anyone can safely use. I actually split kindling right in the comfort of my living room. I located a suitable-sized log that measured 15 inches high, by 12 inches in diameter. I cut out one side of a cardboard box to catch any wood chips, bark, etc. (See the photo)
